It is worth having a look at the different U3A sites, particularly Reading’s – they are consulting on a draft strategy for Climate Emergency 2020 – 2025.

I’m afraid that climate change is rather low of the agenda. In the recent past we have had Brexit now followed by COVID-19. Furthermore, there is a distinct lack of both enthusiasm and awareness of the dangers of climate change within the population. True, we have had more immediate things to deal with but even with this taken into account, I feel the general population will not really become aware of the impending danger until they feel its effects. By then it may be too late and we will have gone past the tipping point. Just look at the proportion of our U3A members who have shown an interest!
