SUMMARY:Day trip To Leeds Castle and The Maidstone Gin Dis5llery
DESCRIPTION:Pembury u3a have arranged a trip by coach to Leeds Castle on Monday 7 July. The cost will be £55 per person.\n\nLeeds Castle was first mentioned in the Domesday Survey of 1086. Since then\, the castle has had a chequered royal history.\n\nThe end of the Tudor dynasty marked the beginning of private ownership in 1550. Passing through many different owners whose amendment and changes to the Castle\, were varied\, making the Castle we see today.\n\nLady Baillie was the last private owner who on her death transferred the Castle and grounds to a charitable foundation The Leeds Castle Foundation.\n\nEntry to the Castle is included\, but does not include a guided tour. However\, audio guides are available.\n\nFor those with mobility issues there is a free shuttle bus from the carpark to the Castle.\n\n \n\nAfter visiting the castle\, we drive to Maidstone Distillery. Your tour and tasting experience will last approximately 90 mins and will include the following:-\n\n \n\n 	A welcome drink of either the signature George Bishop London Dry Gin and tonic\, an alternative low alcohol gin and tonic or a soft drink; \n 	An introduction to the town of Maidstone and the historic Market Buildings; \n 	The story of English gin and the fascinating role of Maidstone Distillery in ournation’s distilling heritage; \n 	An introduction to the Distillery's equipment and the artisan processes used to create the hand crafted spirits; \n 	An introduction to the Distillery's spirits including a tasting of a mini Rhubarb andRaspberry gin cocktail and also a Sharp’s Toffee Liqueur. \n 	There isa small shop on site and there with be some exclusive shop offers available . \n 	Please complete and return the application form with your cheques to:-\n\n \n\nValerie Marianni\, 7 Petersfield\, Pembury. SUMMARY:Day trip to Reading - 30 April
DESCRIPTION:Pembury u3a are organising a day trip to Reading on 30 April 2025. \nReading is known for its beer\, biscuits and bulbs in the industrial revolution\, Reading has transformed into a vibrant\, metropolitan town located on the River Thames and Kennet & Avon Canal. Traffic allowing we will arrive about 11:30 am in Reading\, giving people time to eat\, visit the Museum with it's Victorian full size replica of the Bayeaux tapestry\, Abbey or shops which are all within 500 metres of where we will be dropped off outside the Museum. Then the coach will pick us up and take us to board the ship Caversham Lady for our 3 hour river cruise with a cream tea on board. Meandering through Wind in the Willows country and passing through Mapledurham Lock and villages of Pangbourne and Whitchurch. \nFurther details of the trip to Reading\, which includes a river cruise are available in the attached link; the booking form is included. \nReading day trip 30 April 2025 \nThe form and payment should be sent to Bev Hougham and any questions directed to Bev or Sylvia Russell.

DESCRIPTION:The next Pembury u3a theatre trip is to see Moulin Rouge at the Piccadilly Theatre\, London on 30th January 2025. \nThe cost is £74.00 per person and includes coach travel\, pick up from Pembury to Piccadilly Theatre\, London\, and return to Pembury after the show. It also includes a tip for the driver. \nBecause it is at a very busy time of year\, we must emphasise how important it is to get the money to us before 5th December so we can hold onto this booking and secure your seat. \nAll reserved seats are in the Royal Circle. \nThis is a very popular musical with great reviews.
