Our small, friendly group of men and women have a shared interest in all aspects of military, aviation, and maritime history during the period spanning Classical times to the present. The subject is broad, offering the prospect of something for everyone, since the cause, conduct, outcome and consequences of individual battles, campaigns or conflicts are influenced by factors including geo-politics, technological development, and human behaviour. Recent topics include: Alexander 'the Great'; the Welsh uprising of Owain Glyndŵr; the Viking wars of King Alfred; the Norman-French Conquest; the loss of HMS Hood; Tunbridge Wells & district VCs; WW2 air warfare over occupied Europe; the Atlantic U-boat campaign; Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington. Recently members of the group were afforded a bespoke tour of the WWI gallery of the Imperial War Museum, and future outings to sites of interest will be organised.
