Pembury u3a are organising a day trip to Reading on 30 April 2025.
Reading is known for its beer, biscuits and bulbs in the industrial revolution, Reading has transformed into a vibrant, metropolitan town located on the River Thames and Kennet & Avon Canal. Traffic allowing we will arrive about 11:30 am in Reading, giving people time to eat, visit the Museum with it's Victorian full size replica of the Bayeaux tapestry, Abbey or shops which are all within 500 metres of where we will be dropped off outside the Museum. Then the coach will pick us up and take us to board the ship Caversham Lady for our 3 hour river cruise with a cream tea on board. Meandering through Wind in the Willows country and passing through Mapledurham Lock and villages of Pangbourne and Whitchurch.
