Day Trip to St Albans on April 10th

Once again our Pembury U3A members enjoyed an organised day trip out. This time it was to Saint Albans, a Cathedral city in the historic county of Hertfordshire.

The coach left Pembury at 9am with the weather looking very promising however we were all prepared, just in case!

Arriving in good time everyone went their separate ways, some to shop or browse the street market and local high street stores. Some to find the great museums, the medieval clock tower, Kingsbury Watermill, Roman mosaics and of course the amazing Cathedral.

With a great variety of restaurants, cafes and pubs I don’t think anybody was disappointed.

At 2.15pm half of us went on an organised guided tour of the Cathedral.

Our guide was a very knowledgeable man called Jeremy. Unfortunately there was an Elton John tribute band setting up for a concert that evening so he had to adapt his one hour talk around the noise of the various instruments tuning up. Jeremy did very well and was full of interesting facts bringing to life the various stages of the Cathedral and town, very enjoyable.

I will add the music was good and hope the concert was a success.

The rain did come down for a while but cleared up when we came out of the Cathedral.

I am pleased to say everything went well and was enjoyed by all.

A very good day out.

Thank you for supporting our day trips out.
